Basil is often called the "King of Herbs". This is because basil in Greek is "basilkos", which means "king". The Greeks were the ones who originally brought the herb to Italy, from Persia. Basil's history can be traced from India to Africa to Central America and the Polynesian Islands. Check out our Italian Seasoning Blend blog-post, and find out how you can make the kingly plant (as well as some of his herby brothers) a regular kitchen staple.
